How the scam email checker works

Look at the address, not the display name. Scammers control the name; the domain is harder to fake.

  1. Copy the real address

Tap the sender name to reveal the full address. Paste that, not the name shown.

  2. Check the domain

A bank that writes from a free mailbox or a week-old domain is a warning sign.

  3. Decide offline

If anything is off, contact the company through its app or a site you type yourself.

Scam email questions

Is this email legit? How can I check?

Start with the address itself. Paste it here and the free check shows whether the domain really accepts mail, which provider runs the mailbox, whether it is a disposable or shared inbox, and whether the domain publishes SPF and DMARC records. A brand-new domain pretending to be an established company is the single most common giveaway.

Can I do a scam email lookup on an address that already emailed me?

Yes, and that is the usual case. Copy the address out of the message — the real one, not the display name — and check it here. Nothing is ever sent to the address, so the sender is not alerted.

The address looks real. Does that mean the email is safe?

No. A real mailbox at a real domain can still be a scammer, a compromised account, or a lookalike domain one character away from the genuine one. Use the check as one input, then verify anything involving money or credentials through a channel you looked up yourself.

Can a scammer send from a real company address?

They can fake the display name easily and sometimes spoof the address. A domain without SPF or DMARC is easier to spoof, which the check shows.

The sender passed every check. Is it safe?

Not necessarily. Scammers can use real, well-configured mailboxes. Judge the request itself, especially anything involving money or passwords.

Should I click the link to see where it goes?

No. We check the sender, not links. Go to the company directly instead.
